Last week, I went to a very good boygenius show. (“Not Strong Enough” is the current top contender for my favorite song of the year, and hearing it live was damn near transcendent.) The band’s pre-show playlist was notably great: at one point, “Bunny is A Rider” by Caroline Polachek transitioned into “This Kiss” by Faith Hill. It was a mix I was not expecting, but turns out it was the mix that I needed.
In that spirit, today’s mix is what I would put on a pre-show playlist if I were an indie-rock girl trying to get the crowd hype before my set. I don’t know if anything is as good as the transition from “Bunny Is a Rider” to “This Kiss” (included on this mix), but I’m hoping “Infinity Guitars” into “Sussudio” can be a close second.
