One of my favorite parts of my Monday routine is catching up on the day’s newsletters and podcasts; I hope that this newsletter and mix can be part of yours! Here are five songs I loved over the past week.
Let me know what else you’re listening to today!
Shotgun, Soccer Mommy- Of the indie pop/rock girlies, Soccer Mommy may be my favorite (cue “Scorpio Rising”). “Shotgun” is the first single off her upcoming album, Sometimes, Forever, out in June. I like the groovy bassline and sleek production- I’m excited for this album!
Think Of Me, Madi Diaz- Not a brand new song, but new to me. I was not expecting this song based on how the album starts and love it for that. I think the less I say about this song, the better the payoff for you will be.
Chicken Teriyaki, Rosalía- I loved Rosalía’s performance of this song on SNL a couple weeks ago. This album, MOTOMAMI, is really diverse and different than anything else I’m listening to right now which is fun.
Mariana Trench, Bright Eyes- I’m seeing Bright Eyes in May so I’ve been listening to them in prep. I’ve seen Conor Oberst on his own and with Phoebe Bridgers as Better Oblivion Community Center, but I’m ready to see him as part of Bright Eyes and to channel High School Hannah.
F.N.T., Semisonic- For some reason, I put on the 10 Things I Hate About You soundtrack while I was working recently. I’ve always liked this song (featured in the scene where Kat [Julia Styles] and Patrick [Heath Ledger] play paintball with balloons [?]), but I had no idea what it was. Turns out it’s a sweet song and now I know something by Semisonic other than “Closing Time!”
