Hi, happy Monday!
If you’ve been here a while, you could correctly assume I kicked off this past weekend by going to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour movie. I saw the show live back in May, but from way up in the nosebleeds and at the “rainiest rain show that ever rain showed,” so I did love the comfort of a movie theater experience. Also, the movie somehow made me appreciate the grandeur of the live show more: there are many points during the show where Taylor is the only one on stage and she still manages to have every single person in a crowd of 70,000 people in the palm of her hand. It’s incredible. She’s incredible! I’m (obviously) biased, but if are even remotely curious about the hype around Taylor Swift, I recommend going. Also recommend Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s piece for the New York Times Magazine, My Delirious Trip to the Heart of Swiftiedom. There’s a reason I hitched my wagon to Taylor 16 (!!!) years ago, and it is affirming and refreshing to finally see her and her fans taken more seriously.
Anyway! Been listening to a bunch of Big Thief lately as that feels very ~fall vibes~ plus new albums from Sufjan Stevens, Squirrel Flower, Del Water Gap, and more! Would love to know what you’re listening to!
Thanks for being here, for reading, and for listening! If you enjoy Made You a Mix, please share with a friend!
