It is wild to admit, but I unironically love one of Addison Rae’s new songs. In fact, last weekend a friend accused me of “being Addison Rae’s street team” after I made numerous people listen to the song. Not where I envisioned my life going, but here we are!

Addison Rae, a major content creator on TikTok, has tried to branch out into singing and acting to varying levels of success. In 2021, she released a single, “Obsessed,” to pretty terrible reviews. Soon after, snippets of songs from a possible full-length album leaked on TikTok. Notable among these leaks was the chorus to the song “2 die 4.” Earlier this month, Addison Rae announced she’d be releasing an EP of these leaks from the “lost album.”

Rumors swirled that Charli XCX, one of my all-time favorite artists and a lover of all things camp, would appear on the full-length version of “2 die 4.” To my delight, the rumors were true. And maybe that’s why I like this song so much: it has the Charli Stamp of Approval.

My favorite thing about Charli is that she 100% commits to whatever she is doing. She can show up on an otherwise silly pop song and take it so seriously that I believe every word she’s saying. She’s worked her magic here and made me take not just this song, but Addison Rae herself seriously. So congrats, Addison Rae, there’s a decent chance you’ll end up in the top of my Spotify Wrapped!!!
