Well, it happened. Fifteen years of Taylor Swift fandom and being too online for most of that time caught up with me. I need a break. I have been off social media since Friday when Taylor’s new album, Midnights, came out and only re-downloaded TikTok to unearth this video that sums up how I’m feeling (and yes, I know, referencing TikTok content means I really need this break, so the detox continues!):

So! I can’t engage with Taylor discourse now, or to be perfectly honest, anytime soon, but it would be off-brand (and impossible) for me to say nothing. Midnights is not her best (Rolling Stone calling it an “Instant Classic” feels like a stretch, I’m more inclined to agree with this New York Times review), but I generally like it and think it’s an enjoyable pop album. My current favorite track is on today’s mix.
This week’s roundup also includes new tracks from Tegan and Sara (who also put out a new album, Crybaby, on Friday that’s worth a listen), Rubblebucket (if you can go see them on their upcoming tour- do it! They put on one of the most fun shows I’ve ever been to!), and more!
Maroon, Taylor Swift
Pretty Shitty Time, Tegan and Sara
Utopian Fantasy, Allie Crow Buckley
Always, Babygirl
Stagger, Poppy
Surrender My Heart, Carly Rae Jepsen
Looking For Somebody (To Love), The 1975
Morning in the Sun, Rubblebucket
